Privacy Policy
Make Change ("we," "us") is a small financial wellness business. We help people organize their finances through budgeting, cash-flow, debt organization, and financial education and planning support. Our website is https://makechangewellness.com/.
Make Change is not a bank, lender, credit counselor, debt settlement company, investment adviser, law firm, or tax preparation service.
This policy explains what information we may receive, how we use it, and the choices you have. Because the work we do involves personal financial information, we've tried to keep this plain and specific.
How our process works
Here is how a typical engagement runs, because it shapes what information we receive.
- You schedule a free consultation.
- If you choose to purchase the Financial Clarity Plan, you sign a service agreement.
- You receive an invoice or payment request.
- After payment, we send you a secure upload link.
- You voluntarily share the documents and information needed to do the work.
- We analyze that information and create your personalized workbook and 90-Day Action Plan.
- We meet with you remotely.
You do not connect your bank accounts to Make Change. We do not ask for, and do not obtain, usernames, passwords, or other credentials to log in to your financial accounts. We do not take custody or control of your money. Please never send us passwords or login credentials.
Information we may receive
What we receive depends on what you choose to share and what your plan requires. Not every client provides every type of information. It may include:
- Contact and scheduling information: your name, email address, other contact information you choose to give us, and consultation scheduling details.
- Communications: messages and correspondence between you and Make Change, including your financial goals and concerns.
- Financial information you share: income, expenses and spending, account balances, debt balances, interest rates, minimum payments, due dates, recurring bills, and savings information.
- Documents you upload: financial statements and similar documents you voluntarily upload, along with any other information needed to create your personalized financial analysis.
- Purchase records: transaction and payment records relating to your purchase from Make Change.
How we use information
We use your information to:
- provide the Financial Clarity Plan and understand your financial situation
- prepare financial analyses, and create and update your personalized workbook and 90-Day Action Plan
- communicate with you, respond to your questions, and schedule and conduct meetings
- process and document purchases and payments
- maintain appropriate business records
- protect our business and our clients where reasonably necessary
- comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not use your information for advertising.
We do not sell your information
Make Change does not sell clients' personal information. We do not give your financial documents or information to unrelated companies for their marketing.
Service providers
We use third-party services to run the business, such as providers for scheduling, email and communications, video meetings, document upload and storage, and payment processing. Your information may be processed or stored through these providers as part of providing our services.
Payment details you submit go through the payment processor's systems. Make Change does not collect or store your full payment card number. We may see limited transaction details, such as the amount, date, and status of a payment.
These providers have their own privacy practices, and we encourage you to review them. We cannot control how they handle information under their own policies.
We may also disclose information when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights or safety, or to prevent fraud or misuse.
How long we keep information
We treat three kinds of information differently: your source financial documents, your finished work products, and our ordinary business records.
Source financial documents
Source documents are the financial documents you provide as material for the analysis, such as bank statements, credit card statements, loan statements, pay stubs, and similar documents.
We may keep them during your engagement so we can perform the service and answer questions or make revisions. We delete your source financial documents within 30 days after your most recent engagement is completed.
These rules apply to your source financial documents however we receive them. We request documents through the secure upload link, but if a source financial document reaches us another way, such as by email or during an engagement, the same retention and deletion rules apply to it.
When an engagement is "completed"
A Financial Clarity Plan engagement is completed when we have provided your final deliverables and any agreed final revisions have been completed. If there are no agreed final revisions, the completion date is the date we provide your final deliverables.
Optional Check-Ins are separate follow-up services, not a continuation of your original engagement. If you buy one, it is treated as a new engagement, and the 30 days run from when that new engagement is completed. We do not keep source documents just because you might buy a Check-In or another service someday.
One short extension if you are continuing with us
If, before the 30-day deadline, you tell us you intend to keep working with us, or we are actively discussing or scheduling another engagement with you, we may keep your source documents for up to 14 more days. This is based on actual communication or scheduling with you, not on a guess that you might return.
- If a new engagement begins during those 14 days, the 30 days run from when that new engagement is completed.
- If no new engagement begins, we will delete your source documents by the end of the 14 days.
For example, if your engagement is completed on March 1, deletion is normally due by March 31. If you tell us on March 20 that you want to book a Check-In, we may keep your documents until April 14 at the latest, unless the new engagement has begun by then.
What "delete" means
When the deadline arrives, we will delete:
- your source financial documents from our active client storage
- copies of source documents that we intentionally downloaded or saved
- screenshots, exports, or other working copies that reproduce the source documents themselves
Deleting your source documents does not mean deleting the financial figures, summaries, calculations, recommendations, or other information that has been incorporated into your finished workbook or 90-Day Action Plan. Those are covered by the separate section below, and they may still contain financial information that came from your source documents.
Our third-party service providers may independently maintain information, such as backup or recovery copies, under their own systems and policies. We cannot promise to delete copies that are held only in those systems or that we cannot access.
Your finished workbook and 90-Day Action Plan
Your finished workbook and 90-Day Action Plan are not source financial documents. They are work products we prepared for you, and they may include financial figures and priorities drawn from the information you gave us.
We may keep copies of them after your source documents have been deleted. This lets us refer back to your earlier analysis, the plan we created, the decisions and priorities we discussed, and prior recommendations or action items. It is especially helpful if you return for a Check-In or another engagement. We have not set a specific deletion date for these finished work products.
Business records
We may also keep ordinary business records, such as service agreements, invoices, payment records, and necessary business correspondence, as well as records reasonably required for legal, tax, accounting, or business recordkeeping purposes.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we receive, and we limit our use of client information to legitimate business purposes. We request documents through a secure upload link rather than asking you to send them by regular email.
No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Your questions and choices
You choose what information to share with us. If you have a privacy question, want to ask about information Make Change has received from you, or want to make a request about information we have retained about you, email raul@makechangewellness.com.
We will review your request and respond as appropriate. We may need to keep some information to meet legal, tax, accounting, payment, or business recordkeeping obligations, or other applicable requirements. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law, and we will handle requests as the law requires.
Children
Our services are intended for adults. They are not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly seek financial information from children.
Our website, cookies, and links
Our website does not currently intentionally use advertising trackers or analytics cookies. Like any website, the technology that hosts and delivers it may process basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, as part of normal operation.
The site contains links to third-party services, such as our scheduling page and email. Those services operate under their own privacy practices once you follow a link.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or practices change. The current version, with its effective date, will be posted on our website.
